Did you know?
The world’s most widely used herbicide, Glyphosate is considerably less toxic to mammals than table salt. In fact a human would have to consume over 20 times as much glyphosate as table salt to have the same effects!

The term ‘pesticides’ actually covers the range of compounds: herbicides used to treat weeds, fungicides for treating disease, aphicides for controlling aphids and a range of other ‘pests’.

The public perception of many of these materials is often not as balanced as it might be.

Whilst they do undoubtedly have an impact on the environment, they are rarely used at rates which cause harm to valued species and their judicious use improves both the yield and quality of crops thus reducing the area farmed.

Assessing the right place, time and dose of any proposed pesticide treatment is key to any integrated crop management programme.

Optima Excel can help farmers, growers, food processors and consumers gain a better understanding of how, when and where pesticides may be used in such a way that they are both effective but cause no or very limited damage to the environment.

Using pesticides carefully and selectively is a key to retaining beneficial organisms whilst controlling those that damage the yield and quality of crops.

Optima Excel can provide expertise in these areas to help you gain a better understanding of the impact of pesticides and their effects on the environment.
